Everything you need to know

Keychain 2-in-1 Some enthusiasts prefer to pierce a cigar rather than cut off its head. FACETTE is designed for them: a keychain cigar piercer that slips into a pocket and combines two tools in a single cylindrical capsule. On one side, a cigar punch with a circular drill bit opens a round, clean hole in the cigar head; the wrapper remains intact, the draw is concentrated, and fewer tobacco strands end up in the mouth. On the other, under the cap, a two-pronged support fork can be inserted into the foot of the cigar to hold it until the end without burning your fingers. The lower part, cut with diamond-point facets, ensures a firm grip, while a knurled ring highlights the center of the capsule. The body is made of metal alloy, and the ring allows you to attach it to your keychain. Available in five colors (black, silver, blue, gold, and red) and presented in a black case, this unique pocket cigar cutter quickly becomes the cigar accessory you take everywhere.

Facets and metal alloy

The diamond point, an architect's motif

The diamond point motif has a long history. Builders in Renaissance Italy already used it on some facades: pyramidal bosses that catch the light and change appearance throughout the day. Cabinetmakers later adopted it on furniture panels, then goldsmiths and jewelers on smaller objects. On FACETTE, these raised facets are not just decorative: they give the thumb and index finger a precise support when turning the drill bit in the cigar head.

The body is made of metal alloy, with a metal drill bit at the end of the capsule. The metal gives the object a sense of density in the hand and withstands the daily friction of a bunch of keys. The central knurled ring, derived from the vocabulary of precision mechanics, marks the separation between the faceted part and the top of the capsule.

Pierce rather than cut

The punch gesture

There are two ways to open a cigar. The guillotine cut slices the head and exposes its entire surface. The cigar piercer, on the other hand, opens a simple round hole in the center of the head. The gesture is more discreet, almost confidential: a few turns of the wrist, and the cigar is ready.

This choice changes the tasting experience. With a smaller opening, the smoke arrives in a more concentrated way; the wrapper remains intact around the hole, which limits the tobacco strands that break off in the mouth. Many enthusiasts alternate between the two methods depending on the cigar size and the mood of the moment: piercing or cutting a cigar is not a quarrel, they are two complementary tools.

FACETTE adds a second consideration to this gesture: the support fork, hidden under the cap, which allows you to enjoy the cigar until its last puffs by holding it away from your fingers.

Pierce a cigar in four steps

1
Prepare: hold the capsule by its faceted part, drill bit pointed towards the cigar head, and clearly identify the center of the head.
2
Pierce: press the drill bit into the center of the head and turn gently in one direction then the other, without forcing, until the right depth.
3
Clear: remove the punch in a straight motion and, if a small tobacco disc remains lodged in the drill bit, remove it before storing the tool.
4
Hold: at the end of the cigar, remove the cap and stab the fork into the foot to hold the cigar until the end without burning yourself.

Punch or guillotine cutter?

Draw More concentrated More open
Strands in mouth Limited Depending on the cleanness of the cut
Recommended sizes Rounded heads, common modules All sizes, including pointed heads
Transport On the keychain In a pocket or case
Additional function Support fork under the cap Generally none

Good to know: the box contains a 2-in-1 keychain cigar piercer and its presentation case. The cigars visible in the photos are for staging purposes only: no cigar is provided. The manufacturer does not communicate dimensions or weight for this model; the punch is suitable for cigars of common module.

Enthusiast's tip: the punch gives its best on the rounded heads of classic formats. For a pointed-head cigar (torpedo, figurado), prefer a guillotine cut. Keep both tools at hand and choose according to the cigar of the day.

Frequently asked questions

What is a cigar piercer and what is it used for?
A cigar piercer, also called a cigar punch or cigar perforator, is a tool that opens the head of a cigar by piercing a round hole, instead of slicing it like a guillotine does. The circular drill bit of FACETTE cuts a small tobacco disc in the center of the head: the opening obtained is enough to smoke, while the wrapper remains intact all around. This method concentrates the draw and limits tobacco strands in the mouth. It is a quick, discreet, and easy-to-reproduce gesture, which appeals to both regular enthusiasts and those discovering cigars.
Should you pierce or cut a cigar?
Both methods are valid and complementary. Piercing a cigar opens a round hole in the center of the head: the smoke arrives more concentrated and the wrapper remains whole, which limits strands in the mouth. The guillotine cut opens the entire head: the draw is wider and suitable for all formats, including pointed heads of torpedo or figurado type, for which the punch is less suitable. Many enthusiasts therefore keep a pocket cigar cutter and a cigar piercer, and choose according to the cigar and the moment. FACETTE naturally finds its place next to a guillotine.
How do you use the keychain cigar punch?
Hold the capsule by its faceted part, which offers a good grip, and point the drill bit towards the cigar head. Press it firmly in the center, then turn gently in one direction and the other, without forcing, until the drill bit has penetrated. Then remove the tool in a straight motion. If a small tobacco disc remains lodged in the drill bit, remove it before storing the punch. The cigar is ready to be lit. With a little practice, the operation takes only a few seconds and gives a clean and regular opening every time.
What is the support fork used for?
The support fork is housed under the cap of the capsule. It has two prongs that you stab into the foot of the cigar, that is, on the side opposite the head. It is mainly used at the end of the tasting, when the cigar becomes too short to be held comfortably: the fork allows you to hold it until the end without bringing your fingers close to the ember. After use, let the prongs cool down, wipe them if necessary, and put the cap back in place. It is this second function that makes FACETTE a 2-in-1 cigar piercer, and not a simple punch.
Is the cigar piercer suitable for all cigars?
The FACETTE punch is suitable for cigars of common module, with a rounded head, which represent the majority of classic formats. The manufacturer does not communicate the exact diameter of the drill bit, nor a compatibility figure: we therefore prefer not to indicate one. For cigars with a pointed head (torpedo, figurado), piercing is less relevant and a guillotine cut remains more suitable. For very large modules, a punch may seem narrow to some enthusiasts, who then choose a classic cut. In case of doubt, keep both tools at hand.
Which color to choose?
FACETTE exists in five colors. Black matte remains the most discreet and matches everything. Silver, with a brushed finish, highlights the relief of the facets. Steel blue, leaning towards grey-blue, brings a more original touch. Gold gives the object a jewelry look, in harmony with a gold lighter for example. Bright red, finally, is spotted at first glance at the bottom of a bag. For a gift, the simplest thing is to start from the accessories the person already owns, or the color of their keychain.
Is it a good gift idea for a cigar enthusiast?
It is a cigar accessory that is both useful and personal, which you keep on you daily. It is presented in a black case with cut foam, which makes it ready to gift without additional packaging. It is suitable for many occasions: birthday, Father's Day, Christmas, retirement, or a simple attention between enthusiasts. The choice among five colors allows you to adapt it to everyone's style. For a more complete gift, pair it with a cigar lighter or a case. Delivery is free. No cigar is provided with the tool.
