The Hygro Probe is a precision digital hygrometer specifically designed to measure humidity inside a cigar. Its dual stainless steel probe extends from its compact cylindrical body to be inserted directly into the cigar's wrapper—where humidor hygrometers cannot reach. The integrated LCD screen simultaneously displays temperature in °C and humidity in %RH with an accuracy of ±1.5% RH. With an ultra-compact pen-like format of 100 × 20 mm and weighing only 50 grams, it slips into a jacket pocket or cigar case without bulk. USB-C charging and a long-lasting lithium battery—approximately 2 years of autonomy—make it a convenient everyday tool. Delivered in a neat black gift box, the Hygro Probe is available in 5 colors: Black, Silver, Azure Blue, Forest Green, and Solar Yellow. Stainless Steel USB-C

🔬 Why measure humidity inside the cigar?

A humidor hygrometer measures the humidity of the ambient air around the cigars—this is useful for adjusting the humidifier, but it tells nothing about the actual condition of a particular cigar. The humidity distribution in a cigar is rarely homogeneous: the core can be drier than the wrapper, especially for cigars that have traveled, aged, or been stored under varying conditions.

The dual stainless steel probe of the Hygro Probe penetrates directly into the wrapper to measure humidity at the very heart of the tobacco. This is the only method that allows you to detect a cigar that is too dry (cracking when squeezed, quick and acidic burn) or too humid (difficult draw, uneven burn) before lighting it—and avoid wasting a valuable cigar.

The architecture of the Hygro Probe

The Hygro Probe adopts a cylindrical silhouette inspired by a pen format — a shape designed for your pocket, not a drawer. Its lacquered metal alloy body features a large LCD window on the front that displays temperature and humidity at a glance, with no manipulation required.

The retractable dual stainless steel probe is protected by a notched sliding cursor — it only deploys when you activate it, preventing accidental contact during transport. The power button is positioned on the side for intuitive handling, and the USB-C port is located at the base for discreet recharging without a proprietary cable.

5 lacquered colors — from timeless Black to impossible-to-lose Solar Yellow in a case — so that this precision instrument is also an identity object.

How to use the Hygro Probe

1
Power on: press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds until the LCD screen activates. The battery indicator will appear in the top left.
2
Deploy the probe: Slide the notched cursor down to deploy the dual stainless steel probe. Both tips are now exposed and ready for measurement.
3
Measure: Gently insert the two tips into the cigar's wrapper, at mid-length. Wait 10 to 15 seconds for a stable reading. The screen will simultaneously display the temperature in °C and the humidity in %RH.
4
Read and store: Note the value (ideal for cigars: 65–72% RH). Retract the probe using the cursor, turn off the device by long-pressing the button. Store in your pocket or the gift box.

📋 Ideal measurement range for a cigar: Experienced connoisseurs generally aim for 65 to 72% RH for storage and enjoyment. Below 62%, the cigar risks drying out and burning too quickly. Above 74%, the burn becomes uneven and the draw tightens. The Hygro Probe allows you to check each cigar individually before lighting it.

💡 Probe maintenance: After each use, wipe the stainless steel tips with a soft, dry cloth. Do not immerse in water. If the tips slightly oxidize over time, wiping them with a cloth lightly oiled (neutral mineral oil) will restore their shine and conductivity. Always retract the probe before storage.

⚠️ For cigars only: The Hygro Probe is designed to be inserted into the soft wrapper of a cigar. Do not use on a cellophane-wrapped cigar without removing the packaging. Do not force the probe on a very dry and rigid cigar, as this risks cracking the wrapper—in this case, a humidor measurement is sufficient. Keep out of reach of children.

🎁 The ideal gift for the discerning cigar aficionado

The Hygro Probe is one of the few cigar accessories that addresses a real need not covered by classic humidors and humidifiers. Its neat black gift box makes it immediately presentable without additional wrapping. For a birthday, Father's Day, Christmas, or a business gift—it's an original, useful, and lastingly appreciated accessory for any serious cigar smoker.

For a complete gift, pair it with a cigar humidor or a travel case from our collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Hygro Probe measure cigar humidity?
The Hygro Probe is equipped with a dual stainless steel probe that extends from its cylindrical body. You insert the two tips directly into the cigar's wrapper, at mid-length, and wait 10 to 15 seconds. The LCD screen then displays the actual humidity level at the core of the tobacco — a measurement that no humidor hygrometer can provide, as they only measure ambient air humidity.
What humidity level is ideal for a cigar?
The recommended range for storage and enjoyment is generally 65 to 72% RH. Below 62%, the cigar is too dry: it burns too quickly, lacks body, and can crack when cut. Above 74%, the draw tightens and the burn becomes uneven. The Hygro Probe allows you to check each cigar individually to avoid wasting a valuable specimen.
Does the probe damage the cigar?
The dual stainless steel probe is thin and designed to penetrate the wrapper without tearing it. The two small holes left by the tips are imperceptible and close naturally on a properly humidified cigar. On a very dry and fragile cigar, it is best to avoid direct measurement to prevent cracking the wrapper — in this case, rely on your humidor hygrometer.
How long does the battery last?
The integrated lithium battery offers an autonomy of approximately 2 years in normal use. The Hygro Probe recharges via a standard USB-C port (cable not supplied) — compatible with all commercial USB-C chargers. The battery indicator displayed on the LCD screen notifies you when recharging is needed.
Can the Hygro Probe be used in a cigar humidor?
The Hygro Probe is primarily designed for direct measurement within the cigar. It can also be placed in a humidor to read ambient temperature and humidity, but its cylindrical format is not optimized for fixed installation. For permanent humidor monitoring, a classic humidor hygrometer remains more suitable — the two instruments are complementary.
Which color should I choose?
All colors offer the same performance. The choice is purely aesthetic and practical. Black and Silver suit all environments, from office to humidor. Azure Blue and Forest Green display a strong character. Solar Yellow is the clever choice for immediately locating the device in a full case or on a table — its visibility is its main quality.
Is the Hygro Probe compatible with all types of cigars?
Yes — the Hygro Probe is compatible with all cigar formats: Robusto, Toro, Churchill, Corona, Gordo, Torpedo, Piramides. The probe adapts to all ring gauges and lengths. The only restriction applies to very dry and fragile cigars (humidity below 55%) where the wrapper might crack upon insertion — in this case, ambient humidor measurement is sufficient.
