🧲 The magnetic system — why it's different

📊
Repositionable hygrometer
The inner metal layer of the lid accepts the magnetic needle hygrometer anywhere on its surface. Position it exactly where the reading is most legible for you, whether open or in display mode.
💧
Humidifier without clips or screws
The magnetic humidifier attaches to the lid in one motion. Move it freely according to the arrangement of your cigars or the size of your collection for even humidity distribution.

Why is Spanish cedar the benchmark wood for humidors?

Spanish cedar (Cedrela odorata) has been the traditional wood for all premium humidors since the 19th century. Its hygroscopic properties allow it to slowly absorb and release moisture, which buffers against sudden changes in ambient humidity and maintains a stable microclimate around your cigars — an essential condition for preserving their aromatic oils over time.

Beyond regulation, its natural terpenes diffuse into the confined air of the humidor and gradually enrich the tobacco's aromas with a subtle woody and spicy note. Cedar also possesses a valuable defensive property: it repels the tobacco beetle (Lasioderma serricorne), a small devastating beetle capable of destroying an entire collection. A cedar-lined humidor offers incomparably superior preservation to an MDF or plastic humidor.

The Wood Magnet spirit

The Wood Magnet stands out with a simple yet radical innovation in the world of classic humidors: the internal magnetism of the lid. Where tradition dictates that the hygrometer and humidifier are fixed once and for all by screws or gripper clips, the Wood Magnet gives you the freedom to arrange your humidor — place the hygrometer on the right side to read it when opening with your left hand, push the humidifier into the corner to free up space above an upper module, create visual symmetry on five cigars fanned out. It's a humidor that adapts to your personal ritual instead of imposing it, in the sobriety of a desktop format that naturally fits on a living room furniture piece, an executive desk shelf, or a library corner.

Preparing the Wood Magnet before first use (seasoning)

1
Humidify the interior — gently dab the cedar walls with a slightly damp cloth (distilled water only). Do not soak — only dab, to awaken the wood fibers without saturating them.
2
Load and attach the humidifier — fill it with distilled water and attach it to the inner metal plate of the lid. Position the hygrometer next to it. Close the humidor.
3
Wait 24 to 48 hours — open to check the hygrometer. Target: 65 to 70% stable. If insufficient, re-humidify the walls and wait again.
4
Place your cigars — reposition the humidifier and hygrometer according to the arrangement of your collection. The Wood Magnet is ready to welcome your cigars in optimal storage conditions.

Distilled water only. Never refill the humidifier with tap water: limescale clogs the humidification system and can leave deposits on the tobacco leaves. Check the hygrometer every two weeks and refill as soon as the level drops below 65%.

Which Wood Magnet version to choose?

Version Composition Who is it for?
Solo Humidor + hygrometer + humidifier Enthusiasts already equipped with a lighter & cigar cutter
Houdini + Houdini 3-torch lighter with punch & cigar cutter Starting with a complete and reliable ritual
Ignition Pro + Ignition lighter & matching cigar cutter The demanding connoisseur who wants a precise ritual
Heritage Edition + Heritage Vintage Gold lighter & cigar cutter Vintage aesthetics and refined gesture
Carbon Nyfe + Nyfe carbon fiber lighter & cigar cutter The ultimate, absolute material consistency

Note: lighters and cigar cutters are included only in the box sets (Houdini, Ignition Pro, Heritage Edition, Carbon Nyfe). The Solo version includes only the humidor with its magnetic hygrometer and humidifier – an ideal choice if you already have equipment or wish to build your ritual at your own pace.

Wood Magnet or glass-top humidor? The Wood Magnet is a fully enclosed humidor with a solid lid – your cigars are protected from light, which better preserves their aromatic oils in the long term. If the glass display of your collection is a priority (to admire cigars daily without opening), then opt for our glass-top humidors. Both approaches are valid – the Wood Magnet prioritizes preservation and magnetic flexibility.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Wood Magnet's magnetic system work?
The humidor's lid incorporates an internal metal layer to which the hygrometer and humidifier attach magnetically. You can reposition them freely at any time – without tools, clips, or screws. This is particularly useful for adjusting the humidifier's position according to your cigars' arrangement, or orienting the hygrometer towards you for an immediate reading upon opening.
Do I need to prepare the humidor before placing cigars in it?
Yes – seasoning is essential. New cedar comes dry and would immediately absorb moisture from your cigars, drying them out. Gradually humidify the walls over 24 to 48 hours before the first loading, following the four steps detailed earlier on this page. Allow approximately two days between unpacking and placing your cigars.
What water should I use for the humidifier?
Distilled water exclusively. Tap water contains limescale that clogs the humidification system, reduces its efficiency, and can leave mineral deposits on tobacco leaves. Distilled water is readily available in pharmacies or supermarkets (ironing section). Also avoid bottled mineral water, which is rich in salts.
What is the difference between the Solo versions and the box sets?
The Solo version includes only the Wood Magnet humidor with its magnetic hygrometer and humidifier. The box set versions – Houdini, Ignition Pro, Heritage Edition, and Carbon Nyfe – add a matching lighter and cigar cutter that align with the spirit of each set. If you already have accessories, the Solo is the ideal choice. Otherwise, a box set provides you with a complete cigar ritual immediately.
Can the hygrometer be repositioned once the humidor is loaded?
Yes – that's precisely the advantage of the magnetic system. Even with cigars inside, simply open the lid, detach the hygrometer, and place it wherever you want on the metal plate. No handling of the cigars is necessary. Repositioning is instant and silent.
What target humidity should I aim for in the Wood Magnet?
The reference range for cigar storage is 65 to 72 % relative humidity, ideally stabilized around 68 to 70 %. Below 65%, cigars dry out and lose their aromas; above 75%, they risk mold and excessive draw. Monitor the hygrometer every two weeks and refill the humidifier as needed.
Is the Wood Magnet a good gift for a cigar aficionado?
Yes – it is an exceptional gift, particularly in its box set version. The unique magnetic system and Spanish cedar interior make it both practical and refined. The Carbon Nyfe version is the most striking (consistent carbon fiber lighter + cutter), while the Houdini offers an excellent pleasure/budget ratio for an aficionado beginning their collection. Birthday, Father's Day, Christmas, retirement: all occasions are suitable.
