Spanish cedar on all sides: what it really changes

The distinction is important: not just a simple interior veneer, but Spanish cedar on every surface of the FIFTY. This reference wood for premium humidors offers three complementary properties. Its hygroscopic structure absorbs excess humidity and releases it when the air is too dry — a natural buffer that complements the humidifier. Its aromatic terpenes diffuse gradually into the tobacco leaves, enriching the flavors as they age. And its characteristic scent repels the tobacco beetle, an insect capable of destroying a collection.

A humidor made entirely of cedar offers preservation incomparably superior to an MDF or reconstituted wood humidor.

Preparing the FIFTY before first use

1
Moisten the walls — gently wipe all cedar surfaces with a cloth slightly dampened (distilled water only). Do not soak — just dampen.
2
Load the crystals — add distilled water to the humidifier until the crystals are fully swollen. Place it inside with the hygrometer and close the humidor.
3
Wait 24 to 48 hours — check the front hygrometer without opening. Target: 65 to 70% stable. Repeat if necessary.
4
Place your collection — once the humidity is stable, organize your cigars by origin or format. Admire the result through the glass without opening.

Crystal humidifier — maintenance: the crystals are exhausted when they return to their original size (small and dry). Refill with distilled water only — never tap water. Typical autonomy: 4 to 8 weeks depending on ambient humidity and how often it is opened.

±5% Analog Hygrometer: the provided analog hygrometer is sufficient for routine tracking. For precious cigars or finer monitoring, supplement it with a precision digital hygrometer (±1–2%) placed inside.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many cigars does the FIFTY humidor actually hold?
Up to 50 cigars in Robusto (50 ring gauge) or Corona (44 ring gauge) format. More generous formats like Gordo (60 ring gauge) or Churchill take up more space — count on 35 to 40 in those sizes. The capacity of 50 is calculated for a standard format.
How often should I refill the crystal humidifier?
Check the hygrometer every 2 weeks. Refill with distilled water only as soon as the level drops below 65% — generally every 3 to 4 weeks. Crystals are exhausted when they return to their original, small, and dry size.
Does the FIFTY need to be prepared before adding cigars?
Yes — seasoning is essential. New cedar is delivered dry and would immediately absorb moisture from your cigars. Gradually dampen the walls over 24 to 48 hours before the first loading. The 4 steps are detailed above.
What is the difference between the FIFTY and the JANGO humidor?
The FIFTY holds 50 cigars compared to 20 for the JANGO — ideal for an intermediate collection. Both have a glass top and a front-mounted hygrometer. The FIFTY is taller (11 cm vs 6.6 cm) and includes a long-autonomy crystal humidifier (4–8 weeks).
Can I use Boveda packs in the FIFTY?
Yes — the FIFTY is compatible with 69% or 72% Boveda packs as a replacement or addition to the crystal humidifier. For long-term preservation or high precision, Boveda packs are highly recommended — no weekly maintenance required.
Is the analog hygrometer accurate enough?
The included analog hygrometer displays with a precision of ±5% — sufficient for routine tracking. For precious cigars or finer monitoring, add a precision digital hygrometer (±1–2%) to be placed inside the humidor.
Is the FIFTY humidor a good gift for a cigar enthusiast?
It is the perfect gift for a collector starting to run out of space in their current humidor. The glass top makes it as beautiful to look at as it is effective for storage. Humidifier and hygrometer included, ready for use upon receipt after seasoning.
