Spanish cedar (Cedrela odorata) has been the traditional wood used in all premium humidors since the 19th century. Its hygroscopic properties allow it to absorb and release moisture slowly, which dampens sudden variations in ambient levels and maintains a stable microclimate around your cigars—an essential condition for preserving their aromatic oils over time.
Beyond regulation, its natural terpenes diffuse into the humidor's confined air and gradually enrich the tobacco's aromas with a subtle woody and spicy note. Cedar also possesses a valuable defensive property: it repels the tobacco beetle (Lasioderma serricorne), a small, destructive pest capable of ruining an entire collection. Preparing the Wood Magnet before first use (seasoning)
Distilled water only. Never refill the humidifier with tap water: limescale clogs the humidification system and can leave deposits on the tobacco leaves. Check the hygrometer every two weeks and refill as soon as the level drops below 65%.
