Solid Spanish cedar interior: what it changes
All drawers and internal walls of the EAMES Edition are made of Spanish cedar — the benchmark wood for premium humidors for centuries, and for good reason. Its hygroscopic cellular structure absorbs excess humidity and releases it when the air is too dry, acting as a natural buffer in addition to the humidifier. Its aromatic terpenes gradually migrate into the tobacco leaves, enriching the flavor profile of your cigars as they age. And it naturally repels the tobacco beetle, an insect capable of destroying a collection in weeks.
The EAMES Edition cannot be compared to an MDF humidor coated in cedar veneer — here, it is solid cedar on the entire surface in contact with your cigars.
Preparing the EAMES for first use — seasoning

Moisten the walls — using a slightly damp cloth (distilled water only), gently dab all cedar surfaces in each drawer. Do not soak — just dab.

Charge the humidifier to 50% — place it in its dedicated drawer with the hygrometer. Close the humidor completely.

Wait 24 to 48 hours — check the hygrometer visible on the front. Target: 65 to 70% stable. Repeat if the humidity level is not reached.

Load your collection — once the humidity is stable, place your cigars by origin and format in the drawers with the removable divider. The EAMES is ready.
Distilled water only — never use tap water in the humidifier. Minerals clog humidification systems and can deposit residue on tobacco leaves. Distilled water is available at supermarkets for a few cents per liter.
Seasoning mandatory before first use: new cedar is delivered dry and would absorb moisture from your cigars if you placed them inside immediately. You must follow the 4 steps above before placing your collection in it.
