Everything you need to know

The Gyroscopica automatic watch winder embodies the new generation of premium watch winders, thanks to its 360° gyroscopic rotation. While a conventional watch winder rotates the watch on a single horizontal axis, the Gyroscopica uses a multi-axis gyroscopic mechanism that faithfully simulates the natural movements of the wrist: the watch pivots in every direction, just as it does when worn day to day. The result is perfectly even winding that respects the most delicate automatic movements. Its self-running cycle of 3 hours operating / 9 hours on standby protects the mechanism while keeping the mainspring under optimal tension. Available in two sizes to suit your wrist: Women's model, 14.5 cm or Men's model, 16.5 cm. Compatible with all automatic rotor watches, including Rolex, Omega, TAG Heuer, Breitling, IWC, Cartier, Longines and Tudor. 360° Gyroscopic Self-running 3h/9h

What is 360° gyroscopic rotation?

Conventional watch winders rotate the watch on a single horizontal axis: the watch spins in place like a plate on a turntable. This approach works, but it does a poor job of simulating the way a watch is worn on the wrist — which involves movement in every direction (rotation, tilting and tipping).

The Gyroscopica uses a multi-axis gyroscopic system in which the watch is suspended within a structure of independently rotating hoops. The watch rotates, tilts and tips in every direction, just as it would during a day of wear. For the automatic movement's internal rotor, this provides the winding environment most faithful to its natural use — and therefore the kindest to the mechanism. This approach is particularly beneficial for delicate complications (perpetual calendars, GMT, moon phases) and older movements, whose lubricants benefit from being distributed completely evenly.

THE GYROSCOPICA SPIRIT: WATCHMAKING IN MOTION

The Gyroscopica does more than keep your watch running — it turns it into a moving display piece. Its architecture of mobile concentric hoops calls to mind the gimbals of marine navigation instruments and the tourbillons of fine watchmaking: objects in which the mechanism itself becomes part of the spectacle. Set on its black lacquered base, the Gyroscopica catches the eye with its slow, silent choreography — the suspended watch pivots, tilts and returns in a ballet governed by its self-running 3h/9h cycle. This is for the collector who regards their watch as a work of horology and wants a winder worthy of the timepiece it cares for. Particularly well suited to an executive office, a personal showroom or as the centrepiece of a collection.

How to use the Gyroscopica

1
Choose your size. Measure the wrist circumference of your usual watch or of the recipient's watch: 14.5 cm = Women's model, 16.5 cm = Men's model. If in doubt, the Men's model fits most standard sizes.
2
Set it on the base. Place the Gyroscopica on a stable, level surface. The lacquered base ensures a secure footing. Plug the supplied power adapter into a mains socket.
3
Position the watch. Open the hoop structure, secure the watch on the central support and adjust the bracelet length to hold it securely without putting pressure on the case.
4
Start it up. The Gyroscopica automatically begins its cycle of 3 hours of alternating gyroscopic rotation, followed by 9 hours on standby, when it remains still. No intervention is needed — the cycle repeats indefinitely, fully autonomously.

Gyroscopic vs. conventional watch winders — what's the difference?

Feature Conventional watch winder Gyroscopica 360°
Axis of rotation Single horizontal axis Multi-axis (rotation + tilting + tipping)
Faithfulness to wearing motion Approximate Faithful to the wrist's natural movement
Suitable for complications Yes, with limitations Ideal for calendars, GMT and moon phases
Visual effect Static Spectacular — a moving display piece
Recommended use Everyday automatic watches Exceptional watches, complications and older movements

Why a 3h operating / 9h standby cycle? This rhythm is no accident — it faithfully simulates real-life wear. A watch worn all day and then left on a bedside table overnight typically alternates between active phases lasting a few hours and longer periods of rest. The Gyroscopica reproduces this alternation to keep the mainspring under optimal tension without overworking it — the most considerate long-term rhythm for the movement.

100% autonomous operation: once plugged in and with the watch in place, the Gyroscopica runs without any intervention. The 3h/9h cycle repeats indefinitely, clockwise and counterclockwise rotation alternates automatically, and the system can remain plugged in 24/7 without risking damage to the watch. Power consumption is minimal and no heat is generated. Ideal for use in an office, dressing room or living space.

Your watch winder is stationary? That's normal: the Gyroscopica rotates for 3 hours, then stops for 9 hours, for a total of around 6 hours of rotation per day. It starts its cycle as soon as it's plugged in: if it's stationary a few hours later, it's simply in standby mode. Its slow, silent rotation, with brief pauses when it changes direction, may also go unnoticed. To check that it's working, unplug and reconnect the adapter: a new rotation cycle will start straight away.

For automatic watches only. The Gyroscopica is designed exclusively for automatic rotor movements. It is not suitable for quartz (battery-powered), solar-powered, manual-winding watches (wound using the crown only) or smartwatches. Placing these types of watches in a watch winder serves no purpose and can, in some cases, damage the movement.

Frequently asked questions

What sets 360° gyroscopic rotation apart from a conventional watch winder?
A conventional watch winder rotates the watch on a single horizontal axis — the watch spins in place like a plate. The Gyroscopica uses a multi-axis system in which the watch is suspended in moving hoops that pivot independently, making it rotate, tilt and tip in every direction. This provides the winding environment most faithful to the wrist's natural movement, and is therefore the kindest to delicate movements.
Why is the cycle 3 hours operating followed by 9 hours on standby?
This cycle faithfully simulates real-life wear: active phases lasting a few hours (wear during the day) alternate with longer periods of stillness (overnight on the bedside table). After 3 hours of rotation, the mainspring is properly tensioned; the 9 hours on standby allow the mechanism to settle before the next cycle. This is the most considerate long-term rhythm for the movement and prevents overwinding.
My watch winder isn't turning: is it broken?
Not necessarily. The Gyroscopica runs on a 3-hour rotation cycle followed by 9 hours on standby, so it is stationary around three-quarters of the time — which is completely normal. It rotates slowly and silently, with brief pauses when changing direction. To check, unplug and reconnect the mains adapter: a new rotation cycle will start straight away. Also check that the watch is an automatic rotor watch (not quartz, manual-winding or a smartwatch) and that the bracelet is adjusted without catching on the hoops. If it doesn't start rotating again after reconnecting, contact our customer service team.
Which size should I choose: the Women's 14.5 cm or Men's 16.5 cm model?
Measure the wrist circumference of the watch in question (the length of the adjusted bracelet). The Women's 14.5 cm model is suited to women's watches and slim bracelets. The Men's 16.5 cm model fits standard and large men's watches (Rolex Submariner, Omega Seamaster, etc.). If in doubt, the Men's model fits most sizes and is the most versatile choice.
Is the Gyroscopica compatible with a Rolex or a Patek Philippe?
Yes — the Gyroscopica is ideal for luxury watches, precisely because its multi-axis gyroscopic rotation is particularly gentle on delicate movements and sensitive complications. It is compatible with all modern automatic movements, including Rolex (3135, 3235, 3285), Omega (8500, 8800, 8900), Patek Philippe, IWC, Cartier and all other automatic watch brands. Particularly recommended for watches with complications (perpetual calendars, GMT, moon phases).
Does the Gyroscopica operate fully autonomously?
Yes — once plugged in and with the watch in place, the Gyroscopica operates 100% autonomously. The 3h/9h cycle repeats indefinitely, clockwise and counterclockwise rotation alternates automatically, and no settings or intervention are required. The system can remain plugged in 24/7 without supervision. Power consumption is minimal and no heat is generated.
Is the Gyroscopica silent?
Yes — the Gyroscopica's motor is designed to operate quietly. The airy architecture of the concentric hoops limits vibration, and the lacquered base keeps the unit stable. The Gyroscopica can be placed in an office, bedroom or dressing room without causing noise disturbance. Its slow, fluid rotation is visually spectacular without being noisy.
Is the Gyroscopica a good gift?
It is one of the most memorable watch gifts you can give. Its unique gyroscopic design immediately sets it apart from all other watch winders and guarantees a wow factor when the package is opened. Ideal for a major birthday (50th, 60th, 70th), retirement (often associated with acquiring a commemorative watch that deserves an exceptional winder), a gift for a loved one who has just acquired a significant piece, a wedding gift, or a premium corporate gift.
