The craft of hand-hammering
Each Brass Gold Chandelier is individually shaped by manual hammering on a fine sheet of solid brass. The artisan strikes the flat surface with a specific hammer to create this vibrant texture of tiny indentations that defines the luminaire’s visual character. The sheet is then curved and folded into a shape evoking a folded lotus leaf — an ancestral metalworking technique. No two pieces are exactly alike: the variations in thickness, the intensity of the hammering, and the final curve of the fold bear the signature of the hand that shaped it. It is this intentional imperfection of handmade goods that distinguishes the Brass Gold from uniform industrial production — the light lives, vibrates, and pulses through the reliefs of the material.
Why hammered brass is unique
Brass is a copper-zinc alloy used in metalworking since antiquity — it combines the golden warmth of copper and the strength of zinc, with a unique ability to be cold-worked by hammering. The result is a surface with thousands of tiny facets that reflect light in a non-uniform way: whereas a smooth surface reflects light like a mirror, hammered brass diffuses it into vibrant golden glimmers. Over time, brass develops a natural patina that enriches its color — it ages beautifully, unlike industrial plated finishes which tarnish.

Bulb advice. Opt for a warm white (2700K) E27 LED bulb, 600-800 lumens, in globe or Edison shape. As the hammered brass is the visual centerpiece, choose a subtle or decorative bulb according to your taste: an Edison bulb with a visible filament will be multiplied by the golden reflections of the hammered bowl for a fascinating kaleidoscopic effect; a frosted globe ensures a softer and more uniform diffusion. Avoid 5000K or higher bulbs, which render light cold and alter the brass's natural glow.
